Armando Salguero is reporting on his blog that the Fins are currently in the process of finalizing the hiring of Jeff Ireland as the new GM. It's not official yet, but it's close. [Update: It's official]
Some have questioned whether or not Parcells is practicing the Rooney Rule in pursuing Ireland -- the rule that states teams must interview minority candidates as well as whites, before making a decision. Huizenga has also been accused of not following the Rooney Rule in the past. But the rule is mainly for head coaching jobs than for front-office personnel jobs, so we'll see how that plays out.
Meanwhile, Ireland had this to say about becoming the new GM here:
"There was a fist pump there. I was excited."
Yup, he's white!
We got a new GM! Next stop: fire Cam Cameron, a kick ass draft and some good, good, football! Woot!

FYI Dude, Joey Clinksales (sp?) the VP of scouting for the Jets, is a minority. So I think Parcells is in the clear there.
And I do believe Clinksales was a legit candidate had Ireland not wanted the job.
Hope this is the guy that gets us to where we wanna go! Welcome aboard, Jeff!

Wonder if Mr. Ireland bit his bottom lip when he did that fist pump.

"Big head = Big brain = smart!"
It really seems so simple doesn't it? This is good news Dude. Parcells gets his men in place and puts em to work. First order of business for Ireland, FIRE CAM!
Hey no one said the job was easy!

Done deal. I love this bit...
Jeff Ireland has reached an agreement to be the new Dolphins general manager and already is helping to decide who will be the team’s head coach, an NFL source has told The Palm Beach Post.

You can keep firing coaches, but until you get enough talent on the field, you aren't gonna win.
Rome or new Dolphins team not built in a day.
Lots more heads still rolling around the league, Martz and K.C. Offense coaches.
Tuna is just getting started.

No thanks on Martz or any of KC's people. And Parcells would never hire any of those dopes anyway.
He's going to go after guys he knows and has worked with before, like he did with Ireland.
Ireland did an awesome job in Dallas' last few drafts. I'm geeked.

what about the D Coord from oakland they didnt have a bad defense out there and im not sure that capers is going to cut it anymore since the defense is not so good and I know we're old but how can we go top 10 last year and straight to the bottom the next year it just doesnt make since

Profootballtalk.com says that Cameron has already been told he's going to be fired. Which means that Parcells and Ireland will bring in their own coach and that guy will hire his own staff. Capers, Mularkey and the rest of the remnants from a 1-15 season will be gone.

Glenn,
We know Parcells won't be hiring those guys. Just meant heads are rolling all over and it's not done yet.
However -
Cam does know offense.
Look at what he did in San Diego.
NT almost wrecked that team this year, but with the talent they have they somehow overcame him - for now.
Tuna likes people that he knows - agreed with all of FN on that point.
Ireland looks like a good move.

Miamiboi84,
Yes the D was top 10 in 2006, but I don't think it was Capers fault that Mueller and Cam thought that letting Bowens, Carter and Zgognina go would screw up the D. In their minds Porter is still all-pro. Why not get rid of three main starters and bring in ONE player who was let go from his team, outright, because he's on the wrong side of the hill? Any fool can run a team like that which is why Mueller is gone and Cam is soon to follow.

I am really digging that our new GM is excited and has been salivating for this type of job
ergo...he will be doing all he can to establish himself as the sexy GM AND he's teamed with one of the greatest minds in football...
It's a new day Finsnation!! Hmmm, maybe i'll get to own up to that bet about running down the streets of south beach with corona's in hand naked...
nah, let me stop putting the cart before the horse...
(fist-pumping)
LP :)
