Pro Football Talk is reporting tonight that The Muel is on the hot seat with the Dolphins:
"At a time when there's plenty of speculation as to whether Dolphins coach Cam Cameron will be one and done in Miami, the talk in league circles is that Cameron isn't on the hot seat.
But that G.M. Randy Mueller is.Mueller, who would have been fired if coach Nick Saban hadn't bolted for Alabama, inherited the full personnel power after the dust settled following the Nicktator's departure. But with authority comes accountability, and as the Fins sink to new lows the blame is likely to land in Mueller's lap."
Wherever the PFT source is coming from, it's not surprising that an 0-5 team like Miami is starting to get rumors like this one swirling around it. So could it be true? You never know. It's supposedly the "talk" in league circles.
But here's the thing. Who's going to be the GM if Muel is gone? As shitty as this team has been, we mustn't forget that the biggest culprits to the Fins' demise have been its coaches and that miracle of science, the Brainless Rick Spielman -- not Mueller.
From Dave Wandstedt to Nick Saban and now, to a degree, Cam Cameron, these men failed to inject youth and talent into a quickly aging ball club. Wandstedt was the one who brought Ricky Williams and his hooch smoking ass to Miami. Spielman Wandstedt ignored advice to draft WR Anquan Boldin and opted instead for LB Eddie Moore. Saban got rid of some of the better players and replaced them with less talented hacks he arrogantly thought could do better in his system. Saban's train wreck of a draft in 2006 set this team back a couple of seasons (we're feeling it now) and before that, Spielman and his asinine trades and penchant for giving away draft picks like they were condoms at a high school dance, dug us into an even deeper, blacker hole.
The Dolphins being 0-5 now is not the work of Randy Mueller. It's the work of the derelicts who ran the asylum before he was given the keys to the franchise. Fire Mueller and we have to start all over and look for a replacement. And knowing the leadership that currently runs things (Huizenga/Cameron) his replacement will likely be someone in their Good Ole Boy Circle of Friends -- a close associate who doesn't know football from a donkey's ass. Some pencil pushing cockface who'll make things even worse than they are now.
Randy Mueller is not the reason the Dolphins are 0-5.
So unless the Dolphins have a secret deal to bring Scott Pioli down here, I say give Mueller some time.
No, really.

This is so fucking stupid, which means it's probably true knowing the band of pea brained fuckbags in H.W. Huizenga's inner circle.
Mueller has a pretty good track record as GM. The personnel moves this past offseason were dubious at best. But thanks to the hooky power structure, that doesn't make any sense to anyone, whom do you blame?
I think it's safe to say Randy Mueller would not have traded for Trent Green on his own. That's all on Cam, as is the Ginn draft pick.
This organization is such a fucking joke.

We need to have some consistency.
The Coaching/front office carousel has to stop. How long did it take Cowher to win? How about the homless genius? If they want the team to get better we need to stay the course for a few seasons. Oh yeah and start the Mormon!!!and every other draft choice (Booker?)and rookie. Let's see what we've got.

p.s. Mueller traded the Aint's a 6th rounder for the cry baby kicker. At least that move has worked out. Mare may get cut.....That's frickin hysterical!

Actually, I think Wanny chose Moore over Boldin despite the fact that Spielman recommended Boldin. Don't get me wrong, Spielman didn't do a good job. But, Wanny made the mistake there.

How long did it take Cowher to win?
He went 11-5 his first year and had homefield.

You're right KDesai. Corrected.
Thanks for looking out.

Couldn't agree more. I think Mueller needs at least one more season runnin' thangs with the Phins. I mean, you can't give away draft picks like we've done and expect to stay competitive.
Granted, the Ted Ginn Jr pick is looking stupider by the game (Okoye will haunt us), but I still think he deserves another year. He's had success in other franchises so I'd give him another year to come to terms with the fact that personnel, coaches and players all come to Miami to die.
Besides, you gotta admit that Ted Ginn, Jr. has a really special family. WOW! WHAT A FAMILY!!

Yea Roro. Players do come to die here. But only because we're so bad at picking players.
I'm in the quickly shrinking minority that thinks Ginn will be a very good player. But even so, he hasn't done squat so far this season to warrant that #9 pick. Also if Ginn never gets it going I'd say that that was Cameron's call more than Mueller's. His history with the Ginn family is what will haunt us.

Brian....I guess I should have said how long did it take Cowher to win a superbowl.(Cause that's the goal right?) Anyway....Still say keep CaMuell at least one more year.

I'd say the goal right now is to win a game.
I agree though that I'd keep Mueller for at least one more year. The offense is making progress. I didn't like the Ginn pick at 9 but it's too early yet to say he's a bust.
Other than that I think we had a pretty good draft overall. Satele looks like the real deal. Mormino is hurt, but by all accounts it looks like he'll be starting next year. The fullback ( I can't spell his name) is already starting and doing a pretty good job. Abraham Wright has potential. And hopefully we'll see soon enough about Beck.
Booker hasn't done anything, but that looks like more of a Cameron pick thatn Mueller.
Granted the 06 draft was bad, but it's not his fault we had like 4 picks.
I'm really not as doomsday as everyone else is. We need to rebuild the defense in this upcoming draft and free agency, but I think the offense is on the right path.
The only really bad thing I can say about Mueller is Joey Porter. Horrible move. I said it at the time. How do you not see the history of LB's leaving Pittsburgh. Not one has excelled after leaving.

Mueller is on my suspect list.
1) His draft is suspect
2) Off-season moves were poor
3) After final cuts he only added 2 ex-Chargers & another guy ... how can alot of our guys be better than the final-cut guys???
NO MORE knee-jerk moves. Quietly consider the BEST GMs & Coaches ... change ONLY IF its a GREAT UPGRADE. They must be obviously better than what we have. It will become obvious if Randy & Cam need to be upgraded, OR they will prove themselves.
Patience ... no goofy knee-jerk moves, trades, or wasting draft picks.
Go PHins!!! Cheers, JerryD

I would have to agree with Dude and JerryD here. Someone is going to have to pay if this team ends up only winning 1 or 2 games (or 0 gasp!) but at the same time, if we don't have a sure fire GM with a proven track record waiting in the wings, then why bother? I would agree that some of Mueller's moves have been big mistakes (like Porter) but his track record is pretty solid and this team being this bad is not on him.
I guess we'll see but again, fire a guy only if it means an upgrade.

More than you want to know:
Here are the draft picks and signings of note made by Mueller when he had control of personnel:
1995- Drafted WR Joey Galloway 1st round, TE Christian Fauria 2nd round
1996- OG Pete Kendall 1st, CB Fred Thomas 2nd, DE Phillip Daniels 4th, QB Jon Kitna (un-drafted free agent) and signed free agent S Darryl Williams (Pro Bowl ,1997)
1997- Traded Rick Mirer and 4th round pick to Chicago (ha ha) for their first (11th overall) then traded that pick and some lower round picks to Atlanta for their 1st (3rd overall)
With this pick he drafted CB Shawn Springs. Then traded 1st round pick (12th overall) and a third to Tampa for their 1st (6th overall) and drafted OT Walter Jones.
Drafted TE Itula Mili 6th and signed free agent LB Chad Brown (free agent, Pittsburgh)
1998 – LB Anthony Simmons 1st (#15) OT Todd Weiner 2nd, RB Ahman Green 3rd, RB Ricky Watters free agent, P Jeff Feagles free agent.
1999- Doesn’t really count because of diminished responsibility.
2000 –Mueller had no first round pick thanks to Ditka the year before (We all know why) DE Darren Howard 2nd, Marc Bulger 6th , DT Norman Hand , WR Joe Horn, QB Jeff Blake , CB Fred Thomas free agents and got QB Aaron Brooks from GB for a 3rd.
2001 – RB Duece McAllister 1st (#23) S Jay Bellamy, KR/PR Michael Lewis free agents and TE Boo Williams un-drafted free agent
2002 – Traded Ricky Williams to WannSpiel for TWO 1st round picks
Drafted WR Donte Stallworth 1st (#13) DE Charles Grant 1st (#25, Miami’s pick) C LeCharles Bentley 2nd then free agents WR Jerome Pathon, OT Victor Riley and DT Grady Jackson.
2005-2006 Saban had final say on all personnel matters.
I’d say Mueller had some solid drafts and trades as well as signing some significant free agents. He’s come into some difficult situations and done well with what and whom he has had to work. In Seattle he was saddled with Whittsit. In NO he inherited a team that had spent every draft pick the previous year including the first rounder from the current year and did very well. Then there is the Saban saga, where he was not in charge of the picks.

I forgot to mention the year he was NFL Executive of the Year in New Orleans.
Thanks.
